Our Founders
Hon. Yuthar AL Rawahi (Founder)
It is with great honor and pride that I welcome you all to our Silver Jubilee World Cancer Congress, Summit, and Exhibition 2025, to be held from Monday, 3rd November to Thursday, 6th November 2025.
After my diagnosis in 2009 with three cancers within a span of three months, and upon realizing the situation in my country and our cultural context, I decided that the perception of cancer had to change. I commit myself to working with our community and like-minded individuals to bring about this change as part of my national duty to support my country. As a result, I left my job to dedicate myself fully to this cause.
Our goal was to transform cancer from a taboo subject within the community into an accepted reality, and to convince people of the importance of cancer prevention and early diagnosis through awareness, education, and screening.
It is with this vision that your association, the Oman Cancer Association (OCA), decided to organize this landmark event in November 2025. This unique world congress offers a platform for a holistic approach to cancer prevention, awareness, screening, and management. The summit will provide opportunities for global interaction, networking, and adapting guidelines to the needs of each participating country. The exhibition will showcase the latest facilities and technologies available for cancer management.
I am overjoyed to share with you our many successes and our future plans that illustrate how we have fulfilled the vision and mission of the Oman Cancer Association. This achievement has only been possible because of the unwavering support of the public and private sectors, individuals, researchers, caregivers, volunteers, donors, staff, the media, patients, and their families.
Where there is a will, there is a way to success.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all.
Yuthar Mohamed Al Rawahi
Founder, Oman Cancer Association
Dr. Wahid Ali Al Kharusi (President)
The Oman Cancer Association (OCA), originally registered as the National Association for Cancer Awareness (NACA) in 2004 by the Ministry of Social Development, was rebranded in 2012. However, the formation of our association dates back to the year 2000, when it operated as the Oman Cancer Group (OCG). It was founded by Mrs. Yuthar Al Rawahi, a young and determined four-time cancer survivor, now a retired member of the State Council and a mother of five children.
OCA is an NGO, a non-profit charity organization, with a vision to reduce the burden of cancer locally, nationally, regionally, and globally. Our mission is to alleviate the burden of cancer on patients, their families, and the community at large. We believe the association is complementary to the social and health efforts addressing cancer in our country, both in times of peace and crisis, to ensure the best support for cancer patients and their families.
We are proud to celebrate 25 years of success, steadfastly adhering to our vision and mission despite numerous challenges. There has been a complete paradigm shift through our awareness campaigns, screening programs, education, training, human resource development, research, and many other landmark projects and special programs dedicated to serving cancer patients, their families, and the wider community.
This year, we are celebrating our silver jubilee, and the World Cancer Congress, Summit, and Exhibition 2025 is the main event of this jubilee.
I am overjoyed to invite you all to our beautiful, safe, and peaceful country not only to attend the World Congress, Summit, and Exhibition, but also to enjoy beautiful scenes from both the present and the past, from the sea and pristine beaches to glorious mountains, and to experience our renaissance. We at OCA are ready to assist and advise with any arrangements needed.
I take this opportunity to thank and appreciate everyone who has supported our growth as an association and helped organize this great event.
I look forward to welcoming you in Oman and am honored to host you on behalf of the Oman Cancer Association.
